There's a moment when the glaze hits raw clay and you genuinely can't tell if you've done something brilliant or ruined it completely. That uncertainty is the whole point.
You start by choosing a piece of unfired pottery from the shelf — something that already has the shape you want — then you and an instructor land on a glazing style together. Layer colours until the piece looks stormy and deep. Paint clean lines freehand. Press a stamp into wet glaze and peel it back slowly. Tip the piece and let glaze drip where it wants to. The techniques are quick to learn and impossible to predict, which is what makes them interesting.
This is a one-day event, so there's no coming back next week to finish. You do the whole thing in one sitting, from bare clay to fully glazed piece, and we handle the kiln from there.
If you've never touched a glaze brush before, good — you'll move faster without any habits to break. The instructor is next to you the whole time, not lecturing from the front of the room.
